Ever hear someone complain, “I hate my HOA leadership”? As a neighbor and a long-time community leader, I have heard it. Hate is a strong word and I do not like it. It is a word that many use to express their utter dislike for an initiative that people should be excited about. Unfortunately, it is to the point where pastors are preaching forgiveness for HOAs (homeownership association). It is as if “Jesus restores health and Jesus restores HOAs.” I have not heard this yet, but I feel this is a sermon in the works.
As a community resident, it should be exciting to hear about the new activities or programs. But, due to a lack of communication, many do not see the benefits of the initiative or the benefits of financially contributing to a shared common pursuit. For some, it feels like the only communication received from the community board is a violation notice or a bill for annual dues.
This is a big part of why I started Gold Eye Marketing.
I realized that as a community leader, I could use my professional experience to help neighborhoods communicate better. It is not about being a giant corporation; it is about being a neighbor who understands what people want and need.
At Gold Eye Marketing, we believe communication should be a conversation, not a one-way street. We work with community boards to help them share important news with you. Our goal is to bring transparency and build trust, from updates on which new lawn vendor was chosen (and why) to a clear look at where your annual dues are going.
For one community we worked with, communication was almost non-existent. Residents often wondered what was happening. Now, that same community has a monthly newsletter that not only shares important news but also celebrates residents by showing off well-maintained homes and giving tips on how to be a better neighbor.
Our passion is helping community leadership share their story, their efforts, and their honest desires for a healthy community. The goal is to make sure residents know their HOA board is actively working to make the community better, not delighting in sending payment notices. It is our way of proving that a little effort can go a long way.
